Like I used to do, read a lot of books, bring cool toys, or participate in activities like sports, rap groups, or video games. These activities can help you connect with others and find a sense of belonging. When I was in school, I spent a lot of time reading books and playing with toys like my Grimlock Transformer. I engaged with anyone who sat next to me in class, and I was fortunate enough to have siblings to hang out with when I needed support.

I recently graduated from high school, and during my junior year, everything was online due to the pandemic. When school reopened, I had only one true friend. During that time, I cut off friendships with people who never checked in on me or celebrated my milestones. I realized that not all friends are genuine, and I was okay with spending time alone. Eating lunch alone, walking to class alone, and sitting by myself—these moments taught me the value of my own company.

I'll be honest; at first, it was hard to admit to myself that I had no friends. I was embarrassed and felt judged. After a while, I didn't care anymore.
