IMI Kolkata: A Gateway to Success or a Bad College Dilemma?

The name IMI Kolkata has been a hot topic of discussion among aspiring MBA students and their families. Many have pondered whether it is a better or a worse choice for their future. As a student in the PGDM 2024-2026 batch, I can confidently share my experience and insights with you.

Placements and Internships: The Priority

MBA aspirants often wonder about placements and internships when choosing a business school. IMI Kolkata has consistently delivered impressive results in this area. The current batch has secured the highest package of 20.38 LPA and an average of 12.02 LPA. Additionally, the highest stipend secured in the summer internship program is Rs. 1 Lakh, with an average of Rs. 50,500.

My Personal Experience with the Summer Internship Program (SIP) further validates these statistics. The SIP starts tentatively from April, and as I mentioned, I am currently in the end of my second term. Most students, including myself, have already secured placements for the SIP. I got placed at Bank of India, and this success is not unique. These results are reflective of the comprehensive support the school provides throughout the process, from grooming for group discussions (GD) and interviews to setting up your resume.

Infrastructural Excellence: A Hub of Learning

When choosing a residential course, aspiring students often ponder the infrastructure and facilities. For the 2025-2027 batch at IMI Kolkata, the school offers four different types of rooms: Twin sharing AC in the Academic Block Twin sharing AC, Single Occupancy AC, and Single Occupancy AC, each with attached washrooms. A dedicated cleaning crew ensures that rooms and washrooms are meticulously maintained, and we can easily report any issues through an online portal called OLT, where complaints are addressed within 24 hours.

The campus is equipped with security systems such as CCTV cameras in every corner of the hostel, and 24/7 security is a given. Boys and girls live in separate hostels, ensuring a safe and secure environment. The Residential Affairs Committee (RAC) and hostels superintendent play a pivotal role in ensuring that all rules are strictly followed, and strict actions are taken against any violations.

Beyond just accommodation, the campus boasts a veg and non-veg mess, a gym with a variety of equipment, a pool room, a badminton court, a volleyball court, a large library, a larger auditorium, and a corporate canteen. The corporate canteen serves as a convenient dining option, as it shares the same campus as the RPSG House, which is the headquarters of the RP Sanjeev Goenka Group.

Excellence in Faculties and Unique Offerings

One of the standout features of IMI Kolkata is the highly qualified and dedicated faculty. They are not only focused on teaching their subjects but are always eager to offer guidance and support in any area.

The school also offers unique programs such as LBA (Leadership and Behavioral Analytics) and NVD (Non-Violent Diplomacy).
